CNN: “Muslims cannot get a break”

CNN asks this question and then answers it. Note the brilliance of Robert Spencer’s reply. As long as mainstream media utilize this type of faulty analysis there is little chance Americans will clarify their ideas.

1. Does Islam encourage violence?

Many Muslims bristle at mere hint of this idea, noting that there are 1.6 billion Muslims in the world, most of whom live peaceful and productive lives.

And here is Robert Spencer:

Here is another example of the perennial confusion: Burke asks the question, “Does Islam encourage violence?,” and then starts talking about Muslims. The fact that some Muslims live peaceful and productive lives does absolutely nothing to answer the question of whether Islam encourages violence. The only way to answer that is to examine the texts and teachings of Islam. Burke is arguing that most Muslims aren’t violent, therefore Islam doesn’t encourage violence. But human beings have all kinds of motives and influences. The Catholic Church, for example, forbids contraception. Yet surveys show that most Catholics contracept. Would Burke then argue that because most Catholics contracept, therefore the Catholic Church encourages contraception?

New York Times reports, then scrubs jihadis’ references to Qur’an and Islam

From Jihad Watch, an article demonstrating how mainstream media works to hide the truth about Islam.

Here is a before and after from a story about the terrorist attack in Paris.

They scrubbed a report on the terrorist proselytizing during Charlie Hebdo attack.

Before:

Sigolène Vinson, a freelancer who had decided to come in that morning to take part in the meeting, thought she would be killed when one of the men approached her.

Instead, she told French news media, the man said, “I’m not going to kill you because you’re a woman, we don’t kill women, but you must convert to Islam, read the Quran and cover yourself,” she recalled.

After:

Sigolène Vinson, a freelance journalist who had come in that morning to take part in the meeting, said that when the shooting started, she thought she would be killed.

Ms. Vinson said in an interview that she dropped to the floor and crawled down the hall to hide behind a partition, but one of the gunmen spotted her and grabbed her by the arm, pointing his gun at her head. Instead of pulling the trigger, though, he told her she would not be killed because she was a woman.

“Don’t be afraid, calm down, I won’t kill you,” the gunman told her in a steady voice, with a calm look in his eyes, she recalled. “You are a woman. But think about what you’re doing. It’s not right.”

Howard Dean: Paris attackers not ‘Muslim terrorists’ | Fox News

This is a serious problem writ large. When we cannot tell the truth… These people ARE Muslims and they ARE carrying out their Jihad as CALLED FOR IN THEIR “BIBLE.” We must be able to see the threat before we can stop it.

Former Democratic Party head Howard Dean objected to calling the shooters in the Paris attack “Muslim terrorists,” though the attackers were witnessed shouting “Allahu akbar” as they fired.

Dean, speaking Wednesday on MSNBC, argued that they should be treated as “mass murderers” instead.

“I stopped calling these people Muslim terrorists. They’re about as Muslim as I am,” he said. “I mean, they have no respect for anybody else’s life, that’s not what the Koran says. And, you know Europe has an enormous radical problem. … I think ISIS is a cult. Not an Islamic cult. I think it’s a cult.”

via Howard Dean: Paris attackers not ‘Muslim terrorists’ | Fox News.

Please go check out Robert Spencer’s page, Islam 101, Jihad Watch for details on how this terror IS deeply rooted in their “religion.” There, you will see:

Below are excerpts from Hasan Al-Banna’s treatise, Jihad. In 1928, Al-Banna founded the Muslim Brotherhood, which today is the most powerful organization in Egypt after the government itself. In this treatise, Al-Banna cogently argues that Muslims must take up arms against unbelievers. As he says, “The verses of the Qur’an and the Sunnah summon people in general (with the most eloquent expression and the clearest exposition) to jihad, to warfare, to the armed forces, and all means of land and sea fighting.”

All Muslims Must Make JihadJihad is an obligation from Allah on every Muslim and cannot be ignored nor evaded. Allah has ascribed great importance to jihad and has made the reward of the martyrs and the fighters in His way a splendid one. Only those who have acted similarly and who have modeled themselves upon the martyrs in their performance of jihad can join them in this reward. Furthermore, Allah has specifically honoured the Mujahideen {those who wage jihad} with certain exceptional qualities, both spiritual and practical, to benefit them in this world and the next. Their pure blood is a symbol of victory in this world and the mark of success and felicity in the world to come. (Emphasis added).

Exclusive: John Cornyn Rips Chuck Schumer’s Media ‘Shield Law’

I write about this in my novel. They are called “Advocacy Networks” approved by the Dear Leader. So now, we see democrats seeking it in reality. Does anyone think this will be different than the IRS targeting conservatives? You must spout the liberal mantra to be approved… which means attacking the Tea Party, gun rights, etc…

“They want to pick and choose which journalists are covered,” the Texan Republican told Breitbart News. “In other words, if you’re a blogger they might not cover you, but if you work for the New York Times they might. Given the changes in the way we get information and the way we consume news, that really smacks to me in essence of government licensing who’s an official ‘journalist’ for the purposes of a shield law and who’s not. If there is one thing I can glean from the First Amendment, it is that government should not be in the business of licensing the news media.”

Obama’s scrub of Muslim terms…

Says Steven Emerson, who runs the Investigative Project on Terrorism:

“Numerous experts on Islamic terrorism like myself … were banned from speaking to any U.S. government counterterrorism conferences,” Mr. Emerson told The Washington Times. “Instead, these agencies were ordered to invite Muslim Brotherhood front groups.”

Maryland School Board Removes “L” Because it Looks Like a Gun

True insanity:

In a desire to remove all things gun related from American culture, a school board in Anne Arundel County, Maryland has suspended use of the letter “L” in Baltimore area schools, citing the letter’s resemblance to a handgun.

Dr. Michelle Gramig, Anne Arundel County School Board Commissioner, is leading the crusade against the 12th letter of our alphabet.  “There mere presence of a pictogram that resembles a gun is evidence of the violence inherent in the system,” Gramig told CNN.  “And we teach these letters to children.”

Police raid man’s home over Facebook photo of son with rifle

From today’s American Thinker. An example of my novel’s Bureau of Socially Correct Activities at work:

What kind of parent allows an 11-year old kid to pose with a rifle?

A certified firearms instructor for the NRA:

New Jersey police and Dept. of Children and Families officials raided the home of a firearms instructor and demanded to see his guns after he posted a Facebook photo of his 11-year-old son holding a rifle.

“Someone called family services about the photo,” said Evan Nappen, an attorney representing Shawn Moore. “It led to an incredible, heavy-handed raid on his house. They wanted to see his gun safe, his guns and search his house. They even threatened to take his kids.”

Moore was not arrested or charged.

A Dept. of Children and Families spokesperson told Fox News they could not confirm or deny an investigation or raid had taken place due to government regulations.

“The department has a child abuse hotline for the state of New Jersey and anybody can make a call to that hotline,” spokesperson Kristen Brown said. “We are required to follow up on every single allegation that comes into the central registry.”

Moore, of Carneys Point, is a certified firearms instructor for the National Rifle Association, an NRA range safety officer and a New Jersey hunter education instructor.

He recently posted a photograph of his son wearing camouflage and holding his new .22 rifle. The child has a New Jersey hunting license and recently passed the state’s hunter safety course.

“If you look at the picture, his finger isn’t even on the trigger – which is proper,” Nappen told Fox News. “If half of Hollywood could follow that rule we’d be thankful.”

Brown said their role is not to go out and search Facebook for photos of children holding weapons.

“In general our role is to investigate allegations of child abuse and neglect,” she said.

The family’s trouble started Saturday night when Moore received an urgent text message from his wife. The Carneys Point Police Dept. and the New Jersey Dept. of Children and Families had raided their home.

Moore immediately called Nappen and rushed home to find officers demanding to check his guns and his gun safe.

Instead, he handed the cell phone to one of the officers – so they could speak with Nappen.

“If you have a warrant, you’re coming in,” Nappen told the officers. “If you don’t, then you’re not. That’s what privacy is all about.”

With his attorney on speaker phone, Moore instructed the officers to leave his home.

How is it that taking a picture of your son holding a rifle is now “child abuse and neglect” and warrants a visit from DCF? How is it that a young boy (note his stance with the barrel pointed up and away and his finger nowhere near the trigger), obviously trained in firearms safety, is considered “abused” because there are guns in the house?

The anti-gun hysteria unleashed by the Obama administration and the Democrats isn’t working. Senator Feinstein’s assault weapons ban is now officially dead, according to Harry Reid. And the expanded background checks are on life support.

But the exaggerated rhetoric will continue to entrap citizens like Mr. Moore whose only crime was his obvious pride in his son.

10-year-old Va. boy arrested after toy gun found in his backpack

This is pure insanity and I hope the parents of the child get an attorney. One can NOT be charged with brandishing a weapon UNLESS one brandishes a weapon!  A toy is NOT a weapon folks!

But, I guess, when the DHS buys 7000 FULL AUTO M-4 rifles to be deployed in AMERICA and calls them “Personal Defense Weapons,” we should not be surprised with this type of lunacy from leftist school administrators…

ALEXANDRIA, Va. –

A 10-year-old boy has been charged after bringing a toy gun on a school bus in Alexandria.

The boy is a fifth grade student who attends Douglas MacArthur Elementary School.

The trouble for him started Monday afternoon on the school bus ride home. According to Alexandria Police, the boy showed the toy gun, described as a replica silver handgun with a black handle and orange tip.

Police say he neglected to mention the toy was a fake gun. School officials found out, and when the fifth grader arrived at school Tuesday morning, they found the toy gun in his bag.

Police arrested him and charged him with brandishing a weapon. He was taken to the juvenile detention center and later released.

The child has been suspended and Alexandria City Public Schools Superintendent, Dr. Morton Sherman, says further action is under consideration, including expulsion.

Las Vegas Ads Targeting Gay People — and denigrating Straight Couples

Amazing… Hope and Change.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, the official destination marketing arm of Las Vegas and the surrounding area, has launched a new campaign aimed at targeting gays and lesbians. The associated ads, created by R&R Partnersand featuring attractive same-sex couples enjoying themselves in the city, poke fun at heterosexuals who are repeatedly depicted as frumpy and old school.

So now the PC police are going to deem as inappropriate the nose art on WWII aircraft?

You gotta be kidding…

The most wide-ranging category covered 27,598 “inappropriate/offensive” items. It included sexually suggestive posters in public areas, obscene cartoons and more than 200 images of aircraft nose art, some dating to World War II. Air Force Special Operations command removed several examples found in the interior of its aircraft.

This is what a polster said under oath a few years ago…

Hickman testified that when circulating the polls, he didn’t much care if they were accurate. “I didn’t necessarily take any of these as for—as you would say, for the truth of the matter. I took them more as something that could be used as propaganda for the campaign,” the veteran pollster said.

I wonder how many of you feel like me. It’s like I’m watching my favorite college football team begin to self-destruct. Sometimes I just can’t watch it. I get up and walk away.

This is the problem I’m having with Romney. I see him doing so little of what he could do… he is so damn driven to not upset anyone that he says nothing of substance. Keep in mind, this is because he knows the liberal media will skewer anything he says… So, again, the media is the real culprit in this country…

I’m closing my eyes. I can’t watch.

Fuzzy Logic shears into the fluffy doublespeak of the left… and lays it bare.

This is another brilliant piece. Fuzzy writes that we must understand, when we point out the left’s hypocrisy or inconsistency, they just look at us and say, “Duh. Of course.” It phases them not–not because they think we are wrong–as indeed they know we are right. It bothers them not because it’s actually part of their plan.

I consider this to be a piece very consistent with my two articles on Alinsky Rules 13 and 14. We are moving the ball forward, I think, on a very important area. We are learning how to defeat leftist doublespeak and thought police.

Thoughtful comments are WELCOME.

Plus, there is more in this very rich article… Here is a snippet:

Conservatives often and quite naturally (and accurately, for that matter) point to the flawed moral relativism of both leftists and Ron Paul libertarians when it comes to Islamofascists and terrorism.  Yet we often forget (again, I include myself here; much of this blog is dedicated to pointing out the “hypocrisies” of the 0 administration) that the 0 “Democrats” are not democrats at all, they are Marxists and as such reject not only our free market economy (well, it’s not now, I guess, but it’s what we want to restore) but also anything that resembles individual freedom, be that freedom of speech or freedom of religion.  Remember, there is no greater enemy of Marxism than God; God means freedom, a power higher than government, real hope, real strength in a people.  Marxism cannot work, of course, but it certainly can’t work on a free, hopeful people who depend on God and not government especially if they are free to express their divergent opinions (divergent opinions are labeled “sedition” and “treason.”).  Leftists revere Mao and Che, they denounce American values and our Constitution; they hate everything we love and love everything we recognize as evil.

While it’s important to point out the vast chasm between what they say and what they do, how they unfairly apply their “justice” and “values,” it’s even more important that we not imagine it will make any difference to them.  They intend, and are fully aware that they intend, to make inequality, censorship, tyranny the order of the day, of the world.  The people we need to show this to are those Americans who’ve not yet awakened, and we cannot show them the true horror of what leftists have in store for America if we merely point to apparent “hypocrisy.”  We must also point out that it’s not actually hypocrisy at all, that unequal justice and unequal application of laws and socio-cultural norms is a part of their plan.  Their entire agenda is build on what we think of as a double standard.  It doesn’t make sense to us because we believe in equal justice, in equal opportunity, in . . . well, equality.

They do not.

Blog: America’s New First Amendment

My latest article (blog entry) appears today at American Thinker. Here is a snippet:

With Obama genuflecting to Muslim leaders around the world, with him supporting the creation of radical Muslim regimes, and with his administration supporting and spewing all manner of leftist drivel (see Saul Alinsky’s Rule 13) aimed at shutting down conservative voices, we might as well accept that our First Amendment has already been revised. Published first here, the new First Amendment now reads:

Congress shall make no law . . . abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble; provided, however, the right to commit Illegal acts against people who offend shall not be infringed.

Southern Poverty Law Center: Crapping On Conservatives While Raking In Cash!

I think Kip Allen and I are going to co-author a piece on this phenomenon of labeling everyone who disagrees with Democrats as “hate” groups. It’s an Alinsky tactic that is very effective. Thanks to Doug Giles and his Clashdaily.com site for this:

The Southern Poverty Law Center’s behavior isn’t reckless as such. It’s far worse than that. It is calculated and malicious, intended to foment hatred and raise oceans of cash by bamboozling gullible liberals into giving money to what is one of the wealthiest nonprofit groups in the history of the United States.

My latest article at American Thinker: Harry Reid and Alinsky’s Thirteenth Rule

Since this article has gone to AT’s archives pages I can post it here. This is the link to the article as it appears at americanthinker.com: Articles: Harry Reid and Alinsky’s Thirteenth Rule.

And here is the article as I submitted it:

Va. State Sen. L. Louise Lucas (D-Portsmouth), as quoted in The Washington Post, claims that Gov. Mitt Romney’s rise in the polls is the result of racism.  In the same newspaper, Opinion Writer Harold Meyerson asks, “What happens if GOP’s voter suppression works?”

These are just two of the most recent examples of liberals taking the truth and flipping it upside down.  Consider: Only a liberal can see disagreement with a Marxist president as racist and a program to discourage voter fraud as inappropriate vote suppression.

I sometimes wonder if they really believe their own, ah, let’s call it rhetoric.  Importantly, however, these absurd allegations should not surprise us.  Indeed, Saul Alinsky advised his followers in Rules for Radicals:

RULE 13: “Confound the enemy with allegations he cannot possibly disprove.”  Whenever possible, turn the enemy in on himself.  Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety, and confusion.  (Watch how organizations flail helplessly when blindsided by irrelevant arguments they cannot refute.)

Astute readers will note that Alinsky only published twelve rules.  The thirteenth is my creation.  Yet, does anyone doubt the tactic being employed?

Take the claim that disagreement with the Marxist constitutes racism.  “Look,” a good friend of mine argued, “there was no Tea Party until Obama was elected; Obama’s African-American; so the Tea Party is racist.”

He said it with a straight face.

“It’s perfect logic,” he argued, speaking from his heart.  And the man is no dummy.  Really, he isn’t!  Actually, he is quite a nice guy.  I like him very much.  We even discuss politics without coming to blows (at least we were able to avoid blows in the past.  We shall see what he thinks of me after reading my just-published conservative manifesto/novel and this article!).

The amazing thing is that no amount of persuasion could move him, even when I pointed out what liberal-tilted Wikipedia thinks of his logic:

Post hoc ergo propter hoc, Latin for “after this, therefore because of this[,]” is a logical fallacy (of the questionable cause variety) that states, “Since that event followed this one, that event must have been caused by this one.” …  The fallacy is in coming to a conclusion based solely on the order of events, rather than taking into account other factors that might rule out the connection.  (Emphasis in original)

Like a good liberal, my friend replied, “Okay, but this!” with the following cite (of course from the same paragon of authority):

Occam’s razor (… Latin lex parsimoniae) is the law of parsimony, economy, or succinctness.  It is a principle urging one to select from among competing hypotheses, that which makes the fewest assumptions.

So, obviously, my friend is saying, between my hypothesis that Americans object to Obama because he is a Marxist and his, that Americans object to Obama because he is African-American, the latter involves fewer assumptions (in his mind) and therefore is right.

Regrettably, my friend did not read what even his beloved Wikipedia said about Occam’s razor:

Occam’s razor is used to adjudicate between theories that have already passed “theoretical scrutiny” tests, and which are equally well-supported [sic] by the evidence.  (Emphasis supplied, omitting citation)

Clearly, there is no evidentiary support — none whatsoever — for the notion that the Tea Party is racist.  To the point, any racist rearing his head would be quickly expelled with great fanfare.  There is encyclopedic evidence, on the other hand, supporting conservatives’ abhorrence to Marxism quite independent of any racial component.

But, note something else about Occam’s razor — something very cunning indeed:

The aim of appeals to simplicity in such contexts seem to be more about shifting the burden of proof….  Alan Baker, Simplicity, Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, (2004) (Emphasis supplied)

Well surprise, surprise.  “Shifting the burden of proof” brings us right back to Alinsky Rule Thirteen and our feeling that we must defend against allegations we cannot possibly disprove.

The problem is an overwhelmingly leftist media that allows, defends, and even intentionally propagates these previsions of logic and common sense.  Liberals like Lucas and Meyerson would merit little more than a mention (and that to expose the stratagem) in a world of neutral, honest, press coverage.  In a world right side up, that is.

Consider this upside down situation: A federal government refuses to protect its national borders and a state, overrun with illegals, is forced to enact, but is rebuffed from enforcing, laws aimed at doing exactly that which the federal government was formed to do, sworn to do — but is not doing.  Then, not satisfied with themselves, liberals denominated Arizona’s activity — this attempt at self-preservation — as “racial profiling”!

We have seen this logic before.  If the police make an arrest on the grounds of being illegally in Arizona, and the suspect is Hispanic, then clearly the arrest was made on the basis of race.

How can this be disproved if the person is Hispanic?  We might argue that the initial stop was made for a traffic violation or whatever, with the officer then developing a suspicion that the person is not here legally (perhaps the person lacks a state-issued driver’s license).  But we cannot prove the additional inquiry about citizenship was not made on the basis of race.  Given two options, that the additional inquiry was made on the basis of a missing driver’s license or on the basis of race, the media will broadcast the latter.

Here are the questions: Why do we need to prove race is not the motivating factor in our opposition to Obama and in Arizona’s defense of its borders?  Why can’t we just speak the truth and let common sense prevail?

The answer, of course, is the leftist media.  The drumbeat assuring us that the emperor is fully clothed is incessant, omnipresent, and still, all too effective.

Here’s another example recently discussed at American Thinker by Jerry Philipson.  Dearborn, Michigan hosts an annual Arab festival which has begun to attract Christian protesters.  In 2010, fulfilling a prophesy in my novel, four Christians were arrested for doing nothing more than handing out Christian literature.  At this year’s festival different and more strident Christians appeared with signs and slogans that offended Muslims.  Chastened by a civil lawsuit in which the four arrested Christians were awarded over $103,000.00 in legal fees for false arrest, this time the police did not immediately object to the new, more strident protestors.  However, once irate Arabs begin to throw hundreds of rocks, bottles, eggs, stones, and other objects, striking and injuring many of the Christians, it was the Christians who were threatened with arrest!  Dearborn police told the Christians:

Part of the reason they are throwing things is you tell them stuff that enrages them.

Again, note the logic.  Muslims were not rioting until Christians showed up with offensive signs.  Rocks and bottles were thrown at, and hit, Christians.  Therefore, it’s the Christians who are disturbing the peace.

The sane want to shake their heads at yet another example of tortured logic that has the effect of shifting the burden of proof.  The illegal acts were being carried out by the Arabs at the festival — not by the Christians protesting Islam.  One would think the police would have sought to explain to the rioters that in America we have a First Amendment which, except as noted below, allows precisely this type of protest.  Instead, just the opposite occurred.

Indeed, by ushering the Christians away under threat of arrest, the rioters were given a very big lesson in American civics.  They were taught about a little known addendum to our First Amendment:

Congress shall make no law … abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble; provided, however, the right to commit Illegal acts against people who offend shall not be infringed.

Bet you missed that in government class, didn’t you?

My latest article appearing at American Thinker

Update to the Update. I have no idea why my article disappeared from about 10:30am to 3:00pm. But, it went back on line and all was (is) well. I never got an answer as to why Harry Reid’s name appears in the title…

American Thinker article.

Update: Apparently I jumped the gun on this. My article did appear on their site, as I took a screen shot of it and even read it on their pages. However, it appears that Google had dug it from the AT servers and it wasn’t yet being “published” for public consumption.

So, I have to wait. And in the mean time, I”ll hopefully figure out why the title to the article had Harry Reid’s name in it.
